Coming to Christ
What does it mean to be a Christian?

Being a Christian means following Christ.
He becomes the Lord and leader of your life. He begins to influence who you are and what you do. You learn more about Him by reading the Bible, which tells the story of God's relationship with His creation, and His plan to restore us to our rightful place with Him.

How Do You Become a Christian?
You become a Christian by realizing and accepting the truth that all of us are sinful(disobedient, rebellious). We like doing things our way instead of doing things God's way. That sinful nature causes us to wander away from our Creator.  Jesus, the Son of God, came into the world to model what a restored human being looks like. Then He died on a Cross to pay for all the sinful rebellious things we've ever done.  But that's not all. Jesus didn't stay in the grave after He died. He came back to life and went back to Heaven to sit at the right hand of His Father. That's important - Jesus came back to life...and so can you and I. As Christ-followers we are promised eternal life.

If all this makes sense to you and you'd like to take this step...then pray this simple prayer: "Father, I admit I am a sinner and need your forgiveness and cleansing. Please forgive me and make me a new person. I accept your leadership and Lordship for my life. I trust you to make yourself known to me in the coming days. Thank you for forgiving me and welcoming me into your family!   Amen"

Becoming a part of a local church is a normal part of being a
Christ-follower. You probably already know someone who is a Christan. Ask them where they go to church. Or look in your local phone directory. Or call us at GCC...(540)662-3300... we'd love to help you grow.
